The Temple Beth Am Teen Assistant Director to YERS shall serve as the professional responsible for implementing social, religious and cultural, formal, informal and experiential educational programming for teens in grades 7 – 12th, supervise the temple youth groups and the Madrichim Leadership program, be available to teach for Monday Night CHAI as well as all teen youth programs, represent and advocate for the youth in all capacities at Temple Beth Am, and work closely with the Director of Lifelong Learning to enrich all teen learning, social and leadership opportunities with meaningful, engaging Judaic programming and activities.

The Teen Assistant Director to YERS will serve in a variety of capacities:

Mentor
• Live an exemplary Jewish life and share it with the youth group and community.
• Collaborate with teen leaders for peer-led programs at weekly BAFTY programs.
• Build positive relationships with TYG members, offering support and advice.
• Integrate youth into Temple life and assist in programming creation.
• Implement leadership support, guidelines, and protocols.
• Supervise and empower teens in on/off-campus activities.
• Guide and oversee BAFTY advisor/s.

Teacher/Educator
• Offer formal and informal programs for 7th-12th graders.
• Supervise the Madrichim program, providing leadership training.
• Engage and facilitate entry points for all young congregation members.
• Develop a balanced program covering social, cultural/educational, worship, and social justice aspects.
• Serve as a resource to the teen community.
• Facilitate and chaperone overnight trips.

Manager/Operations
• Create and promote programming through various communication channels.
• Serve on the administrative director team.
• Manage budget, oversee fundraising events, and enhance membership strategies.
• Collaborate on future program vision.

Community Leader
• Facilitate teen participation in regional and national NFTY events.
• Engage in local social action, educational, and social events.
• Participate in youth professional development opportunities.
• Grow relationships and look for collaboration with other youth groups in the community.
• Represent Temple Beth Am at Miami community youth events.
• Reach out to uninvolved teens and explore ways to engage them.
• Establish opportunities for Jewish teens in the area and different schools to get involved in Jewish life.

Qualifications:
Passionate about working with Jewish youth and teens, excellent communication skills, tech-savvy with social media, empathetic with strong boundaries, creative thinker, knowledgeable in Reform Judaism, high integrity, and organizational proficiency.

Education and Experience:

College Degree, Jewish education/studies preferred.
Three or more years of experience working in the field of youth programming (camp, religious school, youth group, etc.), community organizing, and/or non-profits.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• While performing the duties described above, the employee is regularly required to stand for long periods.
• Required to use a computer for extended periods, resulting in frequent and repetitive hand/arm movement.
• Full time year-round position that requires some evenings, Shabbat, and holidays; and on-site presence during the work week.
